Team owner Frank Hess reviews an unusual motorsport season 2020

The motorsport season 2020 has ended earlier and in another way than planned for the Sharky-Racing Team around team owner Frank Hess. Due to the current COVID-19 situation, both the last round of the Rundstrecken-Challenge-Nürburgring RCN and the last three races of the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS) were cancelled. Despite the difficult and unusual conditions Sharky-Racing finished the unusual season with the positions 1 and 2 in the RCN class ranking for 2litre turbo cars as well as, position 1 in the RCN team ranking. In addition to the RCN events, Sharky-Racing has also successfully participated in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS) with their VW Golf GTI TCR.

Team owner Frank Hess: "2020 was certainly a very special and, with regard to the COVID 19 pandemic, hopefully a unique motorsport year that will be remembered for a long time to come. At beginning of the year we had planned like all other teams with the first NLS race in March, but this was impossible from the event organizer's point of view due to the arising infection at that time. But both the RCN and the VLN organisation left no stone unturned and did an excellent job. Together with the responsible authorities, a comprehensive and in this form certainly unique hygiene concept was worked out for each motorsport series. This gave us the only and last chance to start the season with a delay at the end of June. Despite the numerous changes, such as two separate RCN races or the legendary "Corona Pit Lane", the realization of the competitions worked well. However, it was a great pity that we had to do without spectators and fans along the track and in the paddock throughout the year. We missed you all very, very much and we are already looking forward to having all fans (hopefully) back on track in 2021.  The results achieved by our drivers and the whole team are certainly impressive. We are especially happy about the 1st and 2nd places in the Rundstrecken-Challenge-Nürburgring RCN. Volker Garrn (Guderhandviertel) increased his performance in the Sharky-Racing VW Golf GTI TCR at every round and was always in front. This finally brought him the class win in the RS3A for 2L turbo cars. Directly behind, Dr. Stephan Lohn achieved an excellent second place with the Sharky-Racing VW Golf GTI Cup "SR". But also the RCN team ranking was won by the team Sharky-Racing&friends.

I am especially pleased about the consistently positive comments of our drivers and partners. No matter if our guest starters Miklas Born and Mikkel Mac or our permanent drivers. They are all very satisfied and will be competing for Sharky-Racing again in 2021. A big thank you also goes to our partners and the whole team crew who have contributed with their excellent support to the fact that we have managed the extraordinary season 2020.

The plans for 2021 are already in full swing, but before that we are focussing on the CREVENTIC 24h race in Dubai and the 6h race in AbuDhabi. By the end of November we have already packed the containers and are shipping our racers to the Middle East where the 24h race in Dubai and the 6h race in AbuDhabi will take place in January 2021.
